When you register in Alberta, your Business will be automatically assigned a business number (BN). There is no cost to obtain a business number. A CRA business number allows access to various federal, provincial and tax programs.

In Alberta, when registering a Sole Proprietorship/Trade Name or Partnership, a full name search report is not legally required, but it is often recommended as a best practice. Instead of a full name search report, a basic name search is conducted to check whether there are other businesses operating under the same or a similar name in the province.

In Alberta, individuals, corporations, and other legal entities can become partners in a partnership business.
Individuals: Any individual of legal age and capacity can become a partner in a general partnership in Alberta. This includes Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and foreigners. There are no specific restrictions on the nationality or residency of individual partners.
Corporations:Corporations, whether incorporated in Alberta, other provinces of Canada, or foreign jurisdictions, can also become partners in a partnership. When a corporation is a partner, it typically designates an individual or individuals as its representatives or authorized signatories to act on its behalf within the partnership.

In Alberta, a general partnership can have two or more partners. There is no specific legal limit on the maximum number of partners you can have in a general partnership.

Alberta rules and regulations pertaining to Partnership Registration requires that a valid Photo ID must be submitted along with the application. An acceptable Photo ID includes Driver's license, Passport, firearms ID, permanent resident card.

Corporate Access Number can be found on the Certificate of incorporation which is also known as the registration number.

In Alberta, you can typically add or remove partners in a partnership business, but the process for doing so may depend on several factors, including the terms specified in your partnership agreement, the consent of the existing partners, and any legal requirements.

It is advisable to have a partnership agreement that outlines the terms and conditions of the partnership, such as the roles and responsibilities of each partner, profit-sharing arrangements, and dispute resolution procedures.

You have to register for a GST account if your business revenue is more than $30,000 in a single calendar or if you make taxable sales, leases or other supplies in Canada.

You need to register for a payroll program account if you pay salaries, gratuities, bonuses or allowances to your employees. Even if you as the owner of the business is the only employee who takes out salary, you will need to register a payroll account.

If you import goods into Canada or export goods to other countries, you need to register for an import-export program account.

In many situations, you may be required to provide notarized registration documents to government body, financial institutions or regulatory body.
