A Legal Suffix: also known as a corporate suffix, is a specific designation or abbreviation added to the end of a business entity's name to indicate its limited liability (Corporation) legal structure or type. The most common legal suffixes include: Incorporated, Limited, Corporation, Inc., Ltd., & Corp.
Unincorporated businesses, such as sole proprietorships and general partnerships, do not use legal suffixes. These types of businesses are typically operated under the personal legal name of the owner (in the case of a sole proprietorship) or the names of the individual partners (in the case of a general partnership).
